Who
funds us? Protected Harvest is developing
a business model with the goal that our certification services
will become a stand-alone division of Protected Harvest. In
other words, the fees we charge for certification will cover
the true costs of certifying a farm (auditor’s time,
travel expenses, and administrative fees).
Yet there are many other costs associated with launching
a national program that intends to have far-reaching impacts
on agriculture, the environment, and the supermarket.
Protected Harvest needs to raise funds to engage experts
in the areas of the environment, ecosystems, agricultural
science, marketing, food distribution, retail, communications,
and technology, so that we can continue our leadership role
in the development of measurable eco-standards and in conducting
cutting-edge research and consumer education.
To support these activities, Protected Harvest has received
generous funding from private foundations and through government
grants. Our funders include:
- The Joyce Foundation
- Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region IX
- The Pesticide Environmental Stewardship Program of the
EPA
- Whole Foods Market
- and generous contributions from individuals like you.
Protected Harvest is uniquely positioned to be the gold-standard
eco-label and a household name – find out more about
how you can help support our
work today.
