Protected Harvest launches
"Sustainable Tomato" project!
On August 23, 2005, Protected Harvest launched an entirely new generation of tomatoes in California. Environmentalists, public officials and agricultural leaders gathered at California’s Environmental Protection Agency to support a movement to certify, label, and market processing tomatoes grown according to sustainable standards.
The event received widespread coverage not only in California, but throughout the country. Coverage of the event appeared in leading news outlets including The Sacramento Bee, San Jose Mercury News, Contra Costa Times, Washington Post, and Forbes among many others.
